Next year marks the official 2019 celebration of Matera as the European Cultural Capital and it is time for you to discover why this sleepy southern Italian city attracts so much attention. From its windy historical center to its hillside caves, Matera is a shot of photographic authenticity that is not to be missed. Its friendly locals, amazing cuisine, and award-winning photography locations are best felt in the early morning hours and the purple sunsets of this ancient city.
Perched on the side of a cliff, overlooking the national Parco della Murgia, the city rises up from a ravine with such drama that it was used as a backdrop for the recent Wonder Woman film and was visited by Henri Cartier-Bresson in the 1950s. Join us as we return for the sixth year in a row and we are still discovering new corners and untapped architecture, cultural, and craftsman shoots.
Additionally, we will have a private shoot of the abandoned city of Craco. What was once a beautiful hilltop town is now a beautiful ruin. The former location for Rome’s film industry, the crumbling palazzos and roofless cathedral offer an unparalleled view into another world … and for our workshop, we will have it all to ourselves. Returning photographers have already started signing up, so if you are interested, please contact me soon, so we can get you set up for an unforgettable chance to see a part of Italy that most people will only dream about.
Workshop enrollment covers all workshop activities, location shooting fees, model fees, intercity transportation, a summary of workshop material/resources, and use of workshop meeting spaces.
Transportation, food, and lodging are at the discretion of the photographer. They are not included in the workshop cost, but if you need help with hotel suggestions please email us.
If this is your first A/Marelli Workshop, you may have some questions or concerns. This is why I offer a complimentary 30-minute private call with each first time workshop participant. After you register for the workshop, we’ll get in touch with you to set up your session via Skype.
Each workshop requires a 50% non-refundable deposit. Final payment is due 90 days prior to the commencement of the workshop.
After the non-refundable deposit is accepted, if you need to cancel or postpone enrollment in a workshop, you may transfer the deposit to another available workshop anytime within the next calendar year. (e.g. If you enrolled for a May 2019 workshop and are unable to attend, you can apply it any other workshop up to the end of May 2020.)
If you have made full payment and need to cancel prior to 90 days before the start of the workshop, you will be refunded the second payment amount.
If you need to cancel inside of 90 days from the workshop commencement, there is no refund, but you can transfer the entire amount to a later workshop up to one calendar year from the original workshop start date.
